It is human nature to want to stay in the familiar. Familiarity often means predictability and, in a sense, comfort. We know how to cope with our current circumstances. After all, we’ve been dealing with these repeating patterns for as long as we can remember.
Change, on the other hand, often means going against the norm, facing the unknown, and confronting resistance – internally, from friends or family, or even societally. In an effort to avoid the uncomfortable and sometimes painful process of change, we can convince ourselves that we are “over reacting,” "it's not that bad," or we “just need better coping strategies.” We've all done this.
Yet, our intuition knows that our comfort zone is no longer comfortable and change is necessary. This cognitive dissonance leaves us uneasy, often with symptoms of stress, burnout, anxiety or depression. I call this a crisis of misalignment. Without meaningful support, our emotional symptoms can eventually lead to physical symptoms without a clear cause – burnout, fatigue, chronic illness and pain.
This is the mind and body's way of signalling that a different approach is needed. Using a trauma informed, alignment-focused, ‘whole-self approach,’ I help my clients identify their unique patterns, create strategies for lasting change, and map out the path to alignment with their true desires and most authentic self. Even when "nothing has worked."
